Breaking Barriers, Building Brighter Futures.

Supporting children and young people with disabilities and their families through practical help, learning and community action. It takes a community to build an inclusive society.

About the foundation

Rooted in family. Built for community.

Harriet Terera founded the foundation in memory of her late mother, Maureen. Her own experience growing up with two parents with disabilities shaped her commitment to children and families facing barriers to care and opportunity.

Our belief is simple: lasting inclusion takes families, carers, therapists, educators and communities working together. Harriet wants mothers of children with disabilities to have practical guidance alongside help with essentials such as food, clothing and school fees.

Our work

Practical support, with a wider ambition.

The foundation aims to empower mothers and carers with practical knowledge about supporting children with disabilities, while helping families meet essential needs. Its approach brings together families, professionals and communities to make care and education more accessible.

01 / CURRENT WORK

Supporting children and families

The foundation helps with essentials including food, clothing and school fees for children who can attend school. Its registered work also includes families in need in the UK.

02 / FAMILY LEARNING

Knowledge for everyday care

Working with professionals, the foundation aims to help mothers and carers learn practical ways to support children at home. A physiotherapist-led session on exercises is one example; Harriet hopes to develop more workshops.

03 / COMMUNITY PROJECTS

Growing local support

The foundation supports practical projects that can help centres care for children. Examples include chickens and feed for a centre’s poultry project and seedlings for a nutrition garden.
